This is the greatest volume of text ever printed, in this language or any other. There were probably around a thousand copies of it printed, and today, only 228 still exist. The Meisei University in Japan has twelve copies; the British Library has eight; a few have been sold (for millions of dollars) into private collections.
The largest collection belongs to the Folger Shakespeare Library, which owns seventy-nine copies. They’re almost all sealed away in vaults, but one is on permanent display in a case in the Great Hall.
This is why I’m an Information & Library Science major. This is why I chose Southern; this is why I’m going to grad school for Library Science. Because this is where I want to intern, and this is where I want to eventually get a job, and this is what I want to be around every day for the rest of my life.
